Gurugram Metro Project-Key Highlights
GurugramX | Updated on June 21, 2025
A 28.5 km elevated metro line with 27 stations is being planned under Gurugram Metro Phase 1, connecting Millennium City Centre (HUDA City Centre) to Cyber City, with a spur line extending toward Dwarka Expressway (Sector 101/Basai). The alignment forms a loop across central Gurugram and passes through major hubs like Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar, Sector 37, Basai Village, and Palam Vihar. Interchange facilities are planned at HUDA City Centre with the Delhi Metro Yellow Line and at Cyber City, linking with Rapid Metro via Sikanderpur.
Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2025, with completion targeted between 2028–29. Bids have been floated and are under review, while preliminary works such as soil testing and consultant appointments are already in progress. The project includes a 15.2 km viaduct with 14 core stations and the remaining on the spur segment. A proposed turnaround facility at MCC has faced objections due to space issues, prompting exploration of alternate designs.
The metro’s cost has escalated from the original ₹5,453 crore to ₹10,266 crore, mainly due to design changes and increased tax liabilities. On-ground challenges include clearance of three private homes, a CNG station, a power substation, and a commercial shop. Additionally, around 1,300 trees will be felled, and electrical infrastructure along key roads is being either shifted or moved underground to accommodate construction.
Route Alignment
Loop connection covers central Gurugram, with main line extending from HUDA City Centre to Cyber City, and a spur branching toward Dwarka Expressway (Sector 101/Basai).
27 stations along the 28.5 km route include key hubs like Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar, Sector 37, Basai Village, and Palam Vihar – ending at Cyber City & the spur.
Interchange nodes include HUDA City Centre (with Delhi Yellow Line) and Sikanderpur on the existing Rapid Metro.

Future Expansion
Haryana is planning a broader 177+ km metro network in Gurugram by the 2030s to fill transit gaps.
Additional lines (e.g., from Bhondsi to Gurgaon Railway Station) are under consideration with new DPRs being developed.
