New Sewage Treatment Plant to Support Dwarka Expressway Growth
GurugramX | Updated on January 5, 2025
A new Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is being developed near Dwarka Expressway in Sector 107, Gurugram. This project is part of the Haryana government and GMDA’s efforts to support the fast-growing residential and commercial sectors along the expressway.
Where Is It Being Built?
The STP will be built in Daulatabad, near Sector 107. It will handle wastewater from nearby sectors, including Sectors 81 to 115, which are seeing a boom in housing and infrastructure.
How Big Will It Be?
In the first phase, the plant will treat 100 million litres of sewage per day (MLD). Eventually, the total capacity could reach 350 MLD, depending on future demand.
Why Is It Important?
As more people move into this area, sewage management becomes critical. This plant will:
- Treat household and commercial wastewater
- Prevent pollution and health issues
- Reuse treated water for landscaping and construction
What Else Is Being Built?
Along with the STP, GMDA is laying:
- 23 km of sewer pipelines in the new sectors
- Pipelines for recycled water so societies and builders can reuse clean water
- Odor control systems to keep nearby areas free from unpleasant smells
When Will It Be Ready?
- The design work (DPR) started in April 2025
- The actual construction is expected to take 18 to 24 months
- The plant could be ready by 2027–2028 Approximately 6 km from Delhi Jaipur Highway NH-8 (Panchgaon Chowk KMP Expressway Gurgaon).
